Our trip down under there!

Moving on

It is really great to stay in the Alps I really cherish the special atmosphere of an holiday in the mountain. So different to the sea side and so special. It always feels like a big gulp of fresh pure air, and even when it is cold, the air is crisp and the sky mostly blue. The scenery is just stunning here, and we do not get bored of it. We have now moved to Wanaka which is smaller than Queenstown, much more family friendly rather than backpackers looking for maximum adrenaline rush per minute sort of thing. Having said that there is also lots of french people on holiday here, which we were very surprised about french always complain about the economic crisis, well obviously not everyone suffer from it, well it is the french way I suppose...). Very weird to be around so many people understanding what we are saying, better watch out our tongues! Anyway we have had a lovely time in Queenstown, not really what we were planning as the paragliding literally ended up in a tree (well yes a real pine so we can say in a christmas tree...). Anyway, we did not had time to be bored, there is lots to do and the girls really enjoyed having picnics, using the summer luge, going on the ski lift, cycling around the lake, and...well no they did not ‘really’ enjoy- walking in the mountains. It is funny how I have always had the chance as a girl to go on holiday in the summer in the mountain, and I remember how walking was such a chore, and now I pass that onto my own girls...anyway. Talking of which I have to confess I really sympathise with my Dad, having girls is really hard work. How is it possible that with only 2 talking, I cannot anymore finish any sentence without being interrupted. I mean Elena is a chatterbox, but Tahlia is becoming even worse! Put together it is a non stop flow of blabla all day long (not mentioning the evening time before falling asleep when it often finish with whisper and badly hidden burst of laugh) Anyway, it is lovely to see them so bubbly and happy together. I will try to post a video of Lorelie being entertained by her sister, it is truly exhilarating. We are going to spend 2 weeks here in Wanaka and we are staying in a beautiful B&B not far from the (very small) town centre. So it is here that we are going to celebrate, Tahlia’s birthday (21st December) and Christmas. We have decided to be really minimalist this year for Christmas (who said as always??) and not only there will be only one present for each person, but also it is either home-made or bought second hand. After traveling for 6 months, I do realise how much more now the girls play with literally nothing and certainly not conventional toys. Even if in the UK we did not have many toys compared to most of their friends, now we are carrying a few books, some crayons, some painting, a pair of scissors/ glue, a game of cards (given in a plane), a knitting doll (don’t ask I cannot make it work...)and that is about it. Their preferred activity is usually to play outside with a plastic box, or a bottle or wooden stick, pieces of grass, wild flowers, stones, anything they can find outside, and some water. They re making all sots of things with that setting and we get to taste/see or enjoy their creativity. We have spent lots of time making christmasy decoration and cards, We might even try to make minced pies ourselves(yes, if you have a good easy recipe I would be very interested!). It feels really good to have the time to do things like that and both Elena and Tahlia love doing crafty things so are very enthusiastic about those kind of projects! To finish on the Christmas subject, I do recommend the video there: http://perenoelportable.sympatico.msn.ca/voir/f0c9f4db379842dc462da30015adf896 It was really funny to watch the girls watching it. Elena is systematically responding to Father christmas questions aloud and was really shocked to see that he made a spelling mistake on Tahlia’s name. (spelled Thalia on the list...) Ok enough rambling for now!
