Our trip down under there!
16 juillet 2008

After Brisbane we had been on Straddie Islands

After Brisbane we had been on Straddie Islands which are just off the coast from Brisbane, a short 30 minutes crossing by ferry. It is at the moment the season for whales migration and we had a fabulous time there in a really big apartment (probably to make the contrast huge just before moving into the campervan) with a terrace overlooking the sea. The village is called Point Lookout and I think it will rbring back nice souvenirs to George! IMG_6512 IMG_6479 Not everyone is admiring the whales ;-) This island is completely unspoiled with only very few accomodation and shops. There is a very laid back feeling there and the nature is just simply beautiful. To see whales or dolphins or even turtles you just need to look at the sea, it was truly amazing! We also had our first aussie swim. the pacific ocean is really rough, every time I go in there it reminds me of last summer when we were in France near Biarritz and both my mum and my father in law got washed by waves. It is so much more powerful here. It was a really nice discovery, a jewel so close to Brisbane, we will keep those few days in our memory for a long time. It has also been lovely to meet up with Chris and Diane and their firends, even though it was a bit short. We wish them a wonderful magical amazing encounter with their baby and can’t wait to hear about it. By the way, I bet it is a girl! I hope we will have the opportunity to meet her on our way back! Then we head back to Brisbane to pick up what is going to be our home for the next 4 months! It is huge and feel very confortable both to live in and to sleep in. Tahlia is slightly dazzled by the fact that it is actually our home and we are not driving to a ‘home’ but I am sure she is soon going to get used to it. Elena has really settled down in her new home. Despite our concerns they are both, so far, travelling really well, Tahlia napping most of the time and Elena keeping herself busy watching outside or looking at her newest toy: a knitting doll! By the way there was no explanation coming with it and I have got no clue on how to knit with it, anyone can help??
